The quantum emergency scenario would also be a good narrative to consider for covenant advocates
1) i don't think covenants help with quantum resistance. i believe they are completely orthogonal
2) the problem with using quantum resistance as a motivation is that there is no hard evidence of an actual threat. it's all vaporware and rumors.
we actually need covenants to scale noncustodial bitcoin. do we need quantum resistance? maybe not! nobody has proven the need and that day may never come. quantum is all bark and no bite, still, after all these years
Agreed; quantum forks embody the ethos of trust, don’t verify. Bitcoin has a question for those physicists building who insist on centralized quantum computers:
Who is the observer in your model, and why should we trust them?
Bitcoin solves both the philosophical and physical side of the observer question plaguing physics since QM was discovered.
What if Bitcoin was the quantum computer? I don’t trust anyone proposing forks over quantum.
