they got about ~1.6 million from the government I think. not as bad as in canada where the CBC receives over a billion. what's bizarre is that you guys seem to be funding the BBC as well??

I don't pay much attention to the BBC, but I perceive that they have been promoting the woke agenda throughout the UK the past 10 years. So it would make sense that USAID was funding them.
What I do not understand. Isn’t it obvious that support for the press from tax money can be a very efficient form to get a strong independent press.
I say can, since it all depends on laws, that need to have objectively measurable criterea to get the funds. So there is no problem for any magazin that receives this funds to print articels criticizing whatever political party, no matter on what side of the spectrum they are.
Because what the US is presenting very clear is: without state funding there is no independent press. Every media company is financed and backed by rich people with political intrest and the newspaper is not going to investigate in every scandal equally independent of color and party.
I know you are involved everywhere. But I would appreciate it a lot when you can give your view on freedom of the press. And what is your critiques to public funding.
Since without free press domecracy can not exist. But since i am not living in the US, I am defnitly missing background information about this news funding.
