That board is pretty low volume for a first timer. I would start with a bigger board then work your way down. The type of wave is a huge part of how hard it is to learn too. Puerto Rico π΅π· has a good variety or breaks and is generally a good place to visit too. Though I haven't been back since the big hurricane hit the island.

Not a first timer...used to surf a lot in northern california and still have the board from then.
Probably need to change to a Doyle/foam board but that's a lot of sats haha! Also way out of surfing shape rn. Also waves weren't spectacular (but another surfer seemed to get up a lot π©).
We visited PR in March and had a blast! Great country. Surfed at RincΓ³n AND GOT UP (on a long foam board π)! Yeah! Was a lot of fun surfing with our daughter.
