That's so crazy to me. I don't understand the logic. If something can be routed around but still prevents what it was intended to any extent, it is effective to some degree.
Like most theives are opportunistic. Just closing the front door keeps them out. Even if they could go around back, most won't.

the filters don't work 80% of the time. it works 0% of the time
as far as I know, anyone who attempted to get around the filter has been able to do it successfully 100% of the time
the perception of it "working" is being mislabeled from the fact noone has done it much in the past because its a waste of money compared to 4x cheaper methods (inscriptions).
