My two sats:
I don’t love having a sole focus on bitcoin be equated with zealotry.
I’m here for a few things:
1.) decentralized
2.) store of value
3.) medium of exchange
I’ve used ETH and wanted it to work so badly. But it was not intended to benefit me — I’m just too poor.
Before the layer 2 solutions were deployed, the fees would reliably revert any gains I could eek out. Afterward, it was a game of trying to spread capital thinly across whatever the hottest layer 2 network happened to be that week. The last straw was the move to PoS — a system designed to privilege those who already had the most.
So, no. I don’t stack bitcoin now because of groupthink or brainwashing. I’m just tired of the gambling and the victory lap for billionaires. I want to work for my money and have it be worth something regardless who I am and how much I hold or how I choose to spend it. Just really good money.
If you have something other than bitcoin that can do that, please let us know.
It’s not that other projects aren’t interesting, it’s simply that the majority of people don’t have enough wealth for this to be a game for us. We are not “playing the field”. I cannot afford to consider and invest in “sort-of decentralized” tokens. It’s simply not worth my attention, which is more limited than I would like.
I don’t fault people for being more diversified and exploring crypto networks. There are some interesting ideas for sure. But they are just interesting ideas in search of a problem to solve.
