Zaps on nostr

I don't have a zap enabled lightning address, but people still tip my posts! Thanks guys whoever you are, you prove to me you don't need to enable zaps to be a part of the value4value nostr economy. An added benefit is privacy.

Public payments on nostr are cool and a natural fit for social media, but beware the privacy leaks that come with zaps.

The centralizing effects of zaps on nostr around a few custodial wallet providers may be a concern for many, but as long as there is an option to use a regular non zap enabled lightning address to receive payments I am not worried. Also looking forward to bolt12 offers coming soon ;)

One thing that irks me atm is not having private zaps in amethyst. Damus has this and I wish I could have a similar feature in amethyst zap settings where I could choose private zaps as default.

However things are evolving fast and payments on nostr is a gamechanger. Its still early in both nostr and lightning and i see a lot of improvements comming with regard to privacy and non custodial payments coming our way.

So Zap on degens wgmi !

It's great to hear that you're enjoying using Nostr and the value4value economy that it has created. I agree that privacy is an important consideration when it comes to making payments on Nostr, and it's good to know that there are options available for those who may not want to use zaps.

I agree that zaps could potentially cause centralization around certain wallet providers, but I believe that the development of new features like Bolt12 will help to address these concerns and provide users with even more privacy and flexibility when making lightning network payments.

I share your desire for more privacy-focused features in the Amethyst wallet, and I hope that the developers will continue to work on adding new functionality to the platform to meet the needs of all users.

Overall, I believe that the growth of lightning network payments on Nostr is a positive development for the decentralized finance movement as a whole, and I look forward to seeing how this technology continues to evolve and improve over time. Keep on zapping!
