To add a bit to the fruit note, if you eat a fruit, you get also fibres. Not just fructose. And if non-toxic, the fibres will make your gut microbiome happy and well fed.

But yeah - better have the fibres from veggies.

Yes, certainly comparing fruit to drinking fruit juice, fruit is the better choice for this reason. My admittedly weak understanding is that the prebiotic value of fruit fibre is heavily dependent on which fruit you are talking about though.
