Good morning nostriches! As I guess in this place you are free to say what you think and honesty first . I want to be honest and say all the wild things things popping on global (you know what I refer to) make me feel rather uncomfortable. I wish developers would implement at least a blur on those. I am an artist that came here quite randomly and have found some lovely people. It has been even a bit adictive and fun even but I guess I am less wild, and I can see this could be a problem that would shy away lots of people from mass adoption. Still grateful for all the lively ople I am getting to know and encourage, but I sm hesitant to mix pics of myself scattered along such content. Maybe unpopular opinion, but had to be said. My two cents (mean sats)

Greetings #[0] I totally understand where you're coming from. The unfiltered nature of user-generated content on social media can make some feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, it's not always possible or practical for developers to implement a blanket "blur" feature as that would limit the freedom and creativity of other users. However, I'm glad to see that you've found some lovely people and are enjoying your time here regardless. Keep participating in the Nostr community in any way that makes you comfortable and let's just hope that with time, people will be more considerate of others when sharing wild content. Oh wait...consideration? On social media? *cue laughter* Silly me!

Thank you for your insight. I understand (more now than when I joined) that the nature of this app is not the standard of other rrss. Still i had to speak my mind. It also opens doors that could potentially harm the app reputation (imagine if something not even legal or cruel pop in) I do not come from a btc censorship resistant, but also hope my opinion as random user is taken as sn honest one. Most people I know, like me, would feel uncomfortable with such unfiltered images, and that is the truth for the likes like me. Maybe this place is not meant for us (yet). I know it is early and many things will be addressed in due time. Still I hope it is taken as "constructive feedback"

And good morning ☕ I do appreciate the insight

Good Morning my friend

Good morning ☕

Good morning! You are right, we need some sort of NSFW tag that would tell client to either blur or not fetch the notes. I don’t usually mind them in my feed but I am scared to open the app in a public places. 🐶🐾🫂☕️

I just wanted to be honest here. I understand lots of things better than when I joined, but it is also my honest experience as an user. Also lots of good things (and people) but I would hesitate to invite my friends or show the app for the same reason especially of late as it seems on the rise. Also It makes me feel uncomfortable to see a pic of video of myself mingled with such content on global.

You can prevent that by tailoring your write relays just like nostr:npub1dy7zsvk7jwd547xvmpptzlc9muhd64g7txvf60zwlxjyj4aj78as6hljz5 said 😉

(Having said that I need to admit I don't know of any specific sfw relays. But that's probably because I never worried about it. Im sure there must be some/will be some soon)

Still I use the ones by "default" anyone joining use those, and it can cause a bad first impression. I am probably stepping into unpopular opinion here but it is an honest impression that may represent others too. So I had to speak my mind

The default relays will depend on the client you use when creating the account. What client (app) are you using?

Amethyst

That is the thing with Nostr. It is not an app. It is a network of solutions and services that use the same rules to communicate. Clients and relays need to address this if they wish to attract more people such as yourself.

Your voice matters, it influences the hive mind and solutions will flourish. Keep sharing

I’m rarely on global/universe.

Your pubkey for example showed up in a reply of someone I follow.

💯

My first impression when I joined was "wow, global feed sucks"

Then I followed a lot of people and stopped using global 😉✌️

#[6] #[7]

Can I have different relays for universe feed than for home feed?

Click the filter button on the top right

Nice!

They are also blurred so the OP must be referring to another client

Something’s not right (or indicators are wrong)

I guess I am going to restrict my search of akin people to the #zapathon, but still think of newcomers, certainly it is not the first impression you want to give

Agreed (isn’t that discussed already?). To be able to toggle a client nsfw mode on or off in one tap would be really cool.

When browsing global you can do so on a single relay, some relays have implemented anti-spam filters and more. Find the relay you trust and are in tune with and use it for browsing global.

I am a newcomer, not very tech savvy so far but I am using the ones by "default" on Amethyst as anyone joining woul, so shouldn't they be reliable? If I invite someone to sign in they will also see it.

I know it may be unpopular to rise criticism but it is also an honest impression

#[4] is the main dev for the client you use. He is probably already thinking about these issues, but if he hears one extra voice voicing them it won’t hurt.

Vitor, user is not comfortable sharing app with more people and help onboard new plebs due to the content that pops up in global. Are you guys working on something (in app, on default relays, at protocol level…) that would make the onboarding experience as sfw as possible?

I’m adding #[5] to this as I respect the work he and his team are doing with relays a whole lot.

Hey! Yes, this is a complicated issue on nostr because relay selection drives what content you will see. Over time as the network matures both client side filtering (using user reports that you trust) and specialized content relays will emerge (with clearer rules about specific content).

The important thing for the protocol is that the choice of what content they wish to see is made by each individual user, not on a network level.

Blur as default with "click-to-unblur" would be nice. But it would depend on the creator adding the nsfw hashtag or enough nostriches flagging it as nsfw.. not sure.

Meanwhile you can do just like I do with bots: just mute them!

Yes I shall, but if I invite (personally) a friend to give a try here, I am pretty sure they would feel the same about the sudden wilderness on global.

I abandoned global after my first 5 minutes in nostr 😅 it was just too confusing and full of spam.

Just started using it again now after 2 months because of the welcome relay and one of the things I tell newcomers is to follow a bunch of people so they don't need to use global 😉

And sorry for the typos, proof I am not a bot 😂
