I have seen many posts the last month about AI as religion or god. In a similar way as the post-war religion was a holy trinity of psyops; moon landing, nukes, and holoc@ust, where nukes where the combination of the other two (a scientific holoc@ust) and where nukes were the stick/threat and space exploration the carrot/promise with obedience. "Scientists" in white lab coats/robes could be installed as the new high priests. Like the pyramids, the project said "look what we can do, so listen to and obey us". Now, "AI safety/moderation" aims to take the place of atheist scientists (where "scientists say..." --> AI says) to control this new engineered religion. They will fail this time because they do not have control of all media channels and there are various online elements of the population (nostriches/bitcoiners/bro scientists) who are not as brainwashed as two generations ago. You could say that centralised, propagated religion is the grandest of all "Malthusian fear spells", undermining organic cultures, bonds and traditions to replace them with itself.
