The fact it hasnโt been built says a lot about the bootstrap cohort - Iโm sure there is an audience for it but people want to get away from the algos
Not to mention, it wouldn't be decentralised unless it used multiple media storage providers, with redundancy across relays (NIP-96?). Otherwise, only the note event data is distributed across relays and not the videos themselves.
I know distributed media is a hard problem but I feel like thereโs gotta be something hacks enough that will work for nostr not far down the track. Potentially some web3 thing if the builders are serious about the tech existing rather than just trying to shitcoin
Absolutely, clients could implent an uploader where once uploaded to a prefered host it also mirrors the media on IPFS and auto rotates through known IPFS gateways to retrieve the assets. It's doable today.

Same issue, no demand from the userbase because to date weโre not getting restricted with external hosts. Need to get nostr:npub1nxy4qpqnld6kmpphjykvx2lqwvxmuxluddwjamm4nc29ds3elyzsm5avr7 and nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w chucked in the gulag, then devs will care!
