Financially, it was Kevin Costner's giant fumble. I think simce it was basically "Mad Max on the water", audiences were not impressed. I am in love with sailing, as is our failed Producer/Director/Actor. For that, there are some great sailing shots from a director that doesn't screw up sailboat scenes.

The main protagonists aren't much, but the redeeming quality of the film ends up being the campy portrayal of a comedic relief villain by Dennis Hopper. It's not much, but that's where the value is.
