1.) Wong is a good guy and is genuine.
2.) Wong thinks GP-USA is genuine. They aren’t.

How is he genuine when he can't be bothered to take 5 days and actually research the topic he is currently promoting?
It took me a lot longer than that to understand just a little bit about Bitcoin.
We are so gonna take this guy away from them and it’s going to be fucking epic when we do.
If I was THAT wrong, THAT publicly, my nose would be deep in research without sleep for at least a week before I came back and apologized, washing the idea of "changing the code to make bitcoin more energy efficient" completely out of my brain.
All he seems to care about is memes. And is still crying about how bitcoin is the problem that needs to be fixed.
It's embarassing to watch really.

Also, Wong has no idea the Ripple guy bribed GP into doing that ridiculous campaign.
That is my entire premise.
Wong is getting a crash course in Bitcoin and because I think he actually cares about all this shit (misguided as it may be), he is going to end up being a very vocal, very visible, and very productive force for Bitcoin.
It's going to be epic when he "gets turned" publicly.

The Twitter thread is a great read. Wong appears to be an idealist who is trying to do his homework.
The realization that his idealistic nature was abused and betrayed will eventually radicalize him into being a Bitcoiner
This is happening all over the world but this is such a visible case. It’s like we were all meant to see this unfold.
The misconception is that bitcoin will ever create more demand for new renewable installation. Renewable energy is entirely pathetic on every thermodynamic generation metric. It loses to the more efficient fossil fuel 100% of the time.
Does that mean that over developed hydro power won’t be used for bitcoin mining? Of course not…that waste should be captured. How about an isolated solar plant (again already built)?…modular mining could help monetize stranded “renewable” energy.
But bitcoin mining is seeking the lowest cost energy for *constant* deployment. Sure the energy can be interruptible but that interruptibility manifests itself as a cost to the mining economics. The ideal source is available for mining 100% of the time and generates 100% of the time. Most installed solar / wind sources don’t fit this mold.
The difficulty adjustment drives the network towards the most cost-effective, reliable energy source. Whatever that energy source looks like in the future (nuclear, dedicated flare mining installations, co-located industrial process latent heat), it will certainly NOT be wind and solar.
