Just stumbled across some photos of the chickens nostr:npub1hu3hdctm5nkzd8gslnyedfr5ddz3z547jqcl5j88g4fame2jd08qh6h8nh and I raised during the pandemic when they were naught but chicks.

Not-so-fun-fact: all our chickens were murdered by raccoons and/or a weasel.

Gone but not forgotten đź’ś thanks for all the eggs, girls.

Anyway, have a wonderful Friday night and pour one out for the chickens that were gone too soon.

Shame to lose birds. We have issues with Hawks and foxes. We just always are adding to the flock now.

You should try again. And if you can get an electric fence and a rooster as protection for the hens.

I once tried to procure a domesticated silver fox from a guy named Nikolai, the director of the Russian Academy of Sciences at the time…

He did not respond to my email(s)…

But I digress…

I look forward to raising chickens again.

Awe, pandemic chickens. The best kind. We ended up with 3 roosters out of 5 chicks. My neighbors in the city loved it.

I lost 2 to a bear and 1 to a hawk - netting and electric fence are key.

About to be building a “chicksaw” to protect chickens that we pick up early May. Curious to see how this homesteading adventure goes

Aggressive geese make for pretty good security.
