A municipal garbage truck broke the mirror of my parked car. I am waiting for the police report to be entered into the system. Even if the other party is at fault, everyone I have spoken to says that this type of accident would be a lot of work for me. Let's see what kind of trouble I will get into in the coming days.

It’s basically your word against theirs. Are there CCTV cameras in the area that might have caught it?
There was no CCTV recording that exact spot, but there is a report from the traffic police at the scene which shows that the other party was at fault because my car was parked. Just from the experience of others who have had similar problems, trying to pay the municipality for the damage is a very difficult process. They say there are even people who have been sued. Since I am not in a position to deal with it, I will not be able to pursue it.
I didn't encounter any problems and the other party's insurance covered the costs. The mechanic I went to show the car took care of the whole process. So we shouldn't let people scare us with what they say and make us give up.
