Ubuntu 24.04.1 install complete on an encrypted volume with long term support till 2034 🤙🏽

Wish me luck connecting to my node and my Start9 file server. I shudder every time I see the acronym SSH or have to import a root cert.

Should require any sshing to connect to start9, if it does will you let me know what does? Cuz I'm interested in fixing those edge case ux

For sure. I will let you know how the process goes. The main thing I have to research tomorrow is how to import a root certificate from the command line since there’s no centralized registry or the tools I’m used to. It’s foreign territory.

Ohhhhh, yeah, to trust the root ca. But you should be able to download it directly from s9 web page and if there's other work, it's directly in your laptop (I believe) no need to SSH.

Omg that was painless. I was guided through the whole process just following the links that popped up automatically when I attempted a local connection to my Start9. Now I just have to figure out how to best utilize a Tor connection to the server when I am on the road.

LFG. Good luck. 👊

You can do it!

#winning , good luck with start9!

Everything has worked perfectly. Just a little sleep deprived. I have local and Tor access to my Start9 node and file server, and even worked out and tested a total system imaging and restoration scheme with Clonezilla.

After I had everything working, I intentionally wiped and restored the whole system from an encrypted image file stored on an external USB. It took 5 minutes to rebuild the whole system. And everything operated the same on reboot.

Today all I have to do is install Sparrow and import a bunch of watch-only credentials and test working with air gapped PSBT’s and signing transactions via USB if it’s ever needed (not my preference). Then image the whole system and make a secondary copy of the image.

I’m really digging Linux. It feels like I am free from a lot of privacy concerns and not helping someone work up an advertising profile on me every time I go online.

That's amazing. Linux, start9, sparrow is a great self sovereignty stack.

I use popOS, Ubuntu, and start9
