Freedom loving people would be better building on free and open source platforms, imo. If we care more about "mass adoption" then we have to play by the establishment's rules. The establishment GAE/IMF/World Bank exists to exploit resource rich nations for the benefit of the G7. That's what Washington is all about and Apple bends the knee to Washington. Only Cantillionairs can even afford to buy Apple. It's a phone of privilege, made (well, designed) by the privileged, for the privileged. They don't give a damn about the Global South. Sure, Google doesn't either, but due to FOSS being a competitive edge for them historically, we have the lucky coincidence that we have a great foss mobile operating system in the Degoogled Android roms. Even stock Android beats Apple. (At least for censorship resistance and choice). It's painful but why continue to engage with Apple? You are trying to negotiate with the Death Star.

This is about fighting for our rights, this is not violence, if Apple thinks Bitcoin is currency, then it should provide Bitcoin's payment infrastructure, if Apple doesn't have Bitcoin payments. And I woke up and installed Damus on my mac. Works well. I love Apple and their “walled garden” as a user, but policy mistakes are inevitable. It will change. Everything evolves. (As opposed to Google - no, thank you, not for me.) Apple have made bigger blunders. They’ll make more.

At least apple is recognizing bitcoin as money.

First time here and trying to learn about it…

Apple has always been such a company. But many come to this only when the trouble touches only them. I don't like this company all the time from the moment I got the first version of their iPhone.

Switch off automatic updates and keep the Damus app installed. Not an ideal solution, but a way to fight back ‼️
