I've said before to people that any elected official should be made to live in the poorest area of their electorate on minimum wage for 12 months with only access to public health and public transport and public housing before taking their seat in parliament.

It might actually teach them how to budget and not send 600 million to png for a football stadium.

Might be great to have key performance indicators (KPIs) for each person who receives their pay from tax generated and/or national resources revenue.

Their salary is then adjusted and awarded annually, directly correlated to their performance against those KPIs.

Australian citizens get to vote on and adjust these KPIs using input forms online, not compulsory and through the year (no deadlines) for feeding input into the KPIs to be created for the following year.

That citizen input information is collated and final KPIs are approved by a highly independent and highly respected group (two year terms for each, 50% rotation).

Salaries are then matched to KPI outcomes determined by a similar highly independent and highly respected group (two year terms for each, 50% rotation).

And there should be no career politicians.

3 year max.

All selected should have a vocation that they can return to.

No some seat on a board of a company that meets for a week and get paid 100000 dollars, just because you awarded them a contract.

Absolutely! 💯
