It depends on where you lived.

Do you mean it is culture based?

Death can be something people pretends not to see. The dead must remain hidden. It represents the future of us all.

On the other hand the dead can be revered as one piece of the community that doesn’t disappear just ‘cause of a mere death.

I can’t prove it but my whole life I’ve always strongly believed that death is just a rebirth into something completely new and beyond our comprehension. I don’t remember what life was before I was born, but I believe I still existed before I was born, just in a completely different form. The same is true of death. I can’t prove any of this, but the nihilists who claim we simply rot in the ground and are no more can’t prove their theory either. I know which is the more optimistic belief to have ;)
