Thought on running Umbrel on a Raspberry pi vs Electrum Server/Core directly on a laptop,
aside from the part about needing to keep the laptop on all the time to keep the node running?
Thanks in advance 🧡🙏💜

I wouldn’t use RPI for anything if possible. Electrum is very resource hungry 🐶🐾🫡
Both ways works fine, but I usually always recommend a pi4 or any other prebuilt nodes for this. Been running my node on a pi4 for a while now, and it feels really robust. Also very easy to setup the device and the interface when using umbrel OS is very clean and easy to navigate.
The laptop will be much faster and better in the long run. Plus, it has a built-in battery backup!
Be sure to put it in a closet otherwise you’ll want to tinker on it and that’ll only result in downtime eventually
umbrel actually has some buggy limitations though very compact as a server sitting quietly at some corner in the room.
wonder if another OS running on a pi would be better?
Am I correct in understanding the following:
With an Electrum Personal Server (EPS), one can have the timechain on an external SSD, and actually one doesn’t HAVE to have it running continuously, so that, if on the road, one can take the SSD and laptop and periodically connect them to synch to the latest block.
And then can use Sparrow and, if needed, can send/receive transactions..
Have used Umbrel with a raspi before, just curious about this new setup.. playing with it today
