Hybrids make sense in stop and go traffic. You get most leverage out of the electric motors when you start from a stop and you don't idle the motor while sitting around.
However on the open road they are no better than combustion cars.

Sure, they have their place and regardless they get decent MPG.
It always seems like they're the most idiotic drivers on the road. Line of slow cars you're stuck behind? Probably a Prius. Failing to properly merge? Oh look! It's a Prius. There's a strong correlation between entitled and/or poor drivers and Prius owners!
