Yea look up earthships if you haven't already- I'm sure they have tutorials on pounding tires. Its quite a workout.
I'd consider digging out a root cellar and using the pounded tires as the retaining wall

Will do. I also thought about using them for a dam as well. To help collect water.
The root cellar is a cool idea when I think about. I had a dream last night that someone let me borrow a backhoe to dig with. Right now we are only hand tools.
