Primarily tech content outside of the BTC/Nostr bubble. I wish I could follow a tag for an exotic programming language or software on Nostr and get fresh information like I do on ActivityPub. There are a few people doing this here and there on Nostr, but there’s nowhere near enough traction.
Also:
- More normie content (here’s my cat, here’s my spoiled brat’s favourite ice cream place, here’s my local community, here’s my wife and me having fish and chips after work).
- Job boards (not overly focused on BTC/Nostr freelancing).
- More food content beyond just pictures of steaks with tons of butter.
- Political content that isn’t made for the "I'm American (or woud love to he American), I say I’m a libertarian but in practice I’m really all for authoritarianism" crowd.
- Geeky content (More Star Trek communities and bots, anyone? D&D?).
- Also, more StarCraft and RuneScape content, because there’s never enough of that.
Basically, enough “normal”, interesting content so I can invite real-life friends and they’ll last more than five minutes here before giving up. I’m tired of giving the same disclaimer when inviting people: “Nostr is great. It is the future. Just... ignore most of the current content and go ahead, talk to yourself using hashtags.”
Finally, likely unpopular opinion, but just in case: a "safe mode" with enough muted keywords to tame Nostr content for beginners. I want to be able to invite, I don’t know, Java Champions from a conference I went to yesterday who may be, among other things: left-wing, European, immigrant, vegan, LGBT, finance bros (I know, awful, awful people), skeptical about anything crypto-related, etc. But who are also often the very best in their respective fields and producers of amazing content (books, talks, videos, social media, you name it). I want to feel comfortable inviting these folks here and be confident they’ll have as much of a good time and room for their own bubbles as the bubbles already established here. This doesn’t mean censoring or pushing the BTC-maxi-carnivore pseudo-libertarian crowd out of Nostr, just making sure there’s also space for people with totally opposite points of view to come in, without them feeling like unwelcome fish out of water.
