YES! I love the Barkleys. And I'm from the southeast so I personally know the pain of bushwacking in those hills.

Here it's higher elevation and much more open so it's easier.

The run I have in mind for later this summer is ~35km with a few thousand meters of elevation (mostly loss on this section).

It's the second half of a loop that rings the ridges of a valley here. I don't know if I'll ever be fit enough to do it in one go... 80km and ~8000m of gain/loss in total.

Might need it. The good news is that there are little bivy huts along the way so you can break that up into 2, 3, or 4 days pretty easily.
