What if the devs charged for updates? 1K sats per update perhaps? I know #Amethyst might do fairly well with all of the updates nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z does. Perhaps it might even encourage them to do more frequent updates and adding more features.

I wouldn’t charge for updates, this is too old of a model and people want their apps renewed or they leave them. Wallet Connect will allow to have automatic charging since it will have keys to your wallet. That’s why I thought that this feature is a good entry into premium tier. If Amethyst will follow the suit, then it would be a fair game across clients. I am sure there are some power user features that people or businesses will be willing to pay for. 🐶🐾🫡

Not to disappoint, but 10k SATs a year requires 100000 wallet connect subscriptions per salaried developer. One developer cannot take good care of 100,000 paying users.

Good point, but that’s just a start. I am sure there could be other add-on features that could provide more income. And the there is zapdvertisement thing. 🐶🐾🫡 Thank you for your input!

Keep thinking. The issue is not on which features should be part of the premium solution, but how to make the numbers work. As soon as it becomes transactional, things get quite expensive.

🐶🐾🫡 will do!

10k per month is probably a reasonable number if the dev lives in US. That's like $2.5 per month. Assuming $5000 cost of living / month, only need 2000 paid users. But if the dev wants to have some savings and support their family well, probably need 4000 paid users.

Logarithmic decay of price in Sats is a good idea because the value of Sats against fiat should increase overtime.

Snort allows auto donations as a % of zaps. It’s not a total solution as pointed out, but I’d love to see this added to other clients to at least put more in the bucket.
