Knowing your limits, pushing against them, being a trustworthy and productive member of society - these are worthy goals, but, my God, how hard they can be from time to time when life bites and the wind turns sharply against you! Sometimes I have to think of this man, Marcus Aurelius, when I'm feeling really down. How he wrote his aphorisms, sick and tired of the war, in the cruel winter of Austria, defending the dying idea of Rome, dreaming of the Pax Romana that would disappear forever...

Many of us live with heavy burdens. Let's help where we can. The day will come when we too will have to rely on others.
