Thanks Boston Wine, I read about nip-05 in the nostr protocol github. I have a question for you Derek: in the future will be valid my self check on my domain ? or people should pay your service to use nostr ? what I mean , is a copycat of blue check of twitter who one people need to pay to stay , or is a service for people who don't have a domain or not much technical enought to self checkmark nip-05 ? Please, Don't answer me this is decentralized. I want to know if you and others relay owners create a sort of private limbo to stay here , to read and post message. what this your view about that?

You can absolutely set up a verified check on your own domain, and many people do!

Services like nostrplebs exist partly for people who don’t already own a domain, or know how to set things up.

The goal is mainly to show that you’re a human — because owning a real domain (or paying sats for a nip-05 service) costs money and is therefore a deterrent to mass-produced bots and scammers

Thanks for your answer. so only for reduce bots? or also to identify people with real ID like passport ?

No, never a real ID. Part of what makes this a platform where speech and ideas are free is the opportunity to post pseudo-anonymously.

Requiring a govt ID (a la Facebook) would be considered a huge privacy violation here on nostr

The NIP-05 shows that some action (typically financial) has been taken to prove “real-ness”.

If it’s free to spin up millions of spam bots, then people will do it. If each bot costs a few cents, it won’t happen on that scale.

Thank you very much for this informations!

I think these informations should be more clear on the nostr home page because there are something like about ID verification process NIP-05 and maybe a programmer can think about ID which make with a key-gen command, but normal people who read that can think about a real govt ID.
