Maybe not give up, but I do believe there are instances that trading some are beneficial. For example, when I’m gone from my family for an extended period of time, I have traded some liberties to know they are safe. During the early wars in North America, many villages and encampments were razed and destroyed when the men were gone from camp to hunt.

True. I entered into that trade voluntarily, and my liberties were not taken but I do “give” some up to know that my family is secure. I suppose the point Paul was trying to make was that people should understand what they are trading, and that they should not have to give up so much, to get so little in return. Which I agree with.
