Fact
Standing by my principles isn't easy and isn't pleasurable. Drawing a line for what is abuse on top of abuse on top of abuse, isn't pleasurable. It has to stop somewhere.
Stop making convenient arbitrary assumptions.
Brother, if you’re standing on real conviction and drawing hard lines, that’s not chasing pleasure, that’s resisting it. That’s strength. My note was about avoiding the pull of comfort, not calling out those holding the line through hardship.
What if your purpose in life is to chase pleasure?
Great question. I used to think pleasure was the point, like life was one long pursuit of whatever felt good in the moment. But pleasure is a terrible compass. It fades fast, and it never delivers what it promises.
But without pleasure, what’s the point of life?
Another great question. Without being overly theological, I’d say pleasure is a gift, not a god. When it becomes the goal, it rots. But when it flows from a life aimed at building, stewarding, and worshiping, it becomes richer, not thinner. Joy follows meaning, not the other way around.
Feels circular. People worship because they want heaven which is eternal bliss. Idk 🧐
I hear you. You’re gonna make me get theological now. lol
It only really feels circular if you think bliss is the goal. It’s not. God is the goal. Worship is how we live rightly before Him. And joy, that deep, anchored joy, is the fruit of that order, not the reason for it.
😂Right but even worship is done because it brings joy. The hermit that rejects materialism and sexual pleasure still finds pleasure in prayer and solitude. The one that dedicates his life to God ultimately believes that being with God in the afterlife will bring the most pleasure.
