How can I delete nostr.band relay in #Amethyst
Discussion
Nostr.band is needed for search. :(
it's one of the few relays that implement nip50
Should a user have a possibility of choosing relays?
#freedom ? 🤔
Freedom by nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z and #Amethyst.
You can choose #nostr relays but only on top of the ones I choose.
#plebchain #nostriches
You don't need to use it for any other activity in the app (that relay is off for all the other filters in the relay screen). There is just no other free option for search right now and without it search wouldn't work at all. :(
You have claimed many times that people should use paid services because infrastructure isn't free.
Now you say that this relay must be included b/c there is no other free option?
Why do you force to use a specific relay?
We can remove it. If you have any alternatives people can use right now, let me know. I just have not seen anyone else implementing it yet. But maybe things are finally changing. It has been over 6 months without any movement in new search providers.
If someone wants to use "default" relays they can use it (tab in relays settings).
No one uses the default relays. So, that's not a good assumption. In the current implementation, they can change all relays at will, but if they don't have a nip50 compliant relay in the list, the app adds one to make sure things work. Breaking seacrh-related features wouldn't be good. Again, I am happy to explore other models.

It's time to study NIP
Do I have to use it? It's not freedom when the app forces me to use a specific server to connect w/o my consent.
You're right, no one should be forced to connect with anyone. You may have to trade-off the loss of the features that come with the NIP-50, no effect if you're not too serious about it.
