One is diet communism and the other believes in small government and self responsibility 😆

In Spanish language are synonymous, the meaning of both is similar to your definition of libertarian, it’s a little confusing…

Liberal is in the north Americian view is basically socialism which socialism is basically diet communism. I'd never vote for the liberal party of Canada but I would vote for the libertarian party of Canada 😅. milton friedman was a libertarian and hated socialism

Depending on what definition of liberal. If you mean these days, see Mr TheSpaceBum's answer. If you mean liberal in the sense that Mises used it in his days, there is no major difference

In the US at least, the term got highjacked somewhere along the way. That's why sometimes people will use the term 'classical liberalism' so as to not confuse it with whatever the modern version is.
