I only have about 2% of my bitcoin on binance. But seeing ways going down I think it's time to move it to cold storage 🥶
Discussion
💯🤝Got mine off when the FTX shit started .
I had about 1300 dollars on ftx, woke up in the middle of the night about a week before things got locked up and moved it to cold storage. Sometimes I get these feelings in the middle of the night and I need to act on them or I can't sleep
As soon as FTX and Binance had that weird spat over their named coins I pulled my Bitcoin off 🤙Always listen to your gut it’s a good indicator of bad things coming 💯
I absolutely hated that spat between the 2 of them. It made me lose respect for both of them. Not proper behavior of CEOs
Speaking of which. I'll have to dig out the photo where I trolled the Flux ceo and caused him to act like a child.
Yeah just like the banks at the moment! Everyone blaming each other! Peer to peer purchases my next deep dive I think 🤜🤛
I had a healthy chunk of BTC on FTX.US and removed it 4 days before they closed withdrawals.
My wife was out of town and locked herself out of her account with too many log in attempts.
She has .05 BTC stuck in withdrawals with no TX ID.
I've lost WAY too much bitcoin to centralize exchanges, those slimy butt fuckers!
The only thing exchanges should be used for is..
Exchanging. Just like the name.
I like strike. Quick buy and off to cold storage even quicker. Leave no man behind.
Likewise. Direct deposit then move to CS.
I also support Jack Mallers in his efforts.
I like Jack too but in all honesty I go where it’s quickest, easiest, cheapest. He did great with Strike, hasn’t let me down yet.
Got a little tough during the high volatility time but that was everywhere. Spreads were all over the map.
Right. When the 15,500 dip melted I couldn’t buy 😂
But I’m not worried. I just keep chugging
It was mad when the bottom hit then it went lower and lower . Then stayed in tight ranges. I was stacking like a madman not huge amounts cos I wanted to make sure I could smash buy when/if it dropped big. Worked out well
Yeah buy and withdraw is the way now . Jack Mallers has great energy and fires me up when on mainstream media 🔥
I'll need to give strike a chance . I love experiments and testing out new things
I’ve not tried Strike yet or Swan either. Still buying from Coincorner as they have lightning withdrawals. Mempool causing headaches as to when to move Bitcoin into wallets and storage
I’m panning to try River out. Been using Strike only for the past 2 years or so.
I wanted to try coin corner, the cards looks cool. But not available in Canada
Strike pays the big miner fees for you (for now)… inscriptooors are not an issue
For now is right. I’m loyal to cold storage:)
How it gets there means less to me as long as it’s easy, cheap fees, etc.
I don’t mind paying the miners , it’s exchange fees . Anybody use peer2peer? I’d like to try that next
Now that is the question. P2P, no-KYC etc. I’ve not dabbled yet but would like to open this discussion up to learn.
I’ve heard of Robosats but not read about P2P options or how you buy - it is how Satoshi designed Bitcoin to work so I should make time to learn
Hmmm. Good question. I think it is as Satoshi sent BTC directly to Hal Finney in the first ever “transaction”. If memory serves. Exchanges didn’t exist yet though. Good question.
Someone told me the other day that they think Hal finney is secretly Satoshi
Brilliant and was a massive contributor but I don’t think he was. Adam Back as well. Huge contributor. There are a few more names on this list.
Hal has long been the #1 suspect to have been Satoshi.
I've even heard a compelling case that it's Elon Musk.
Musk can’t code. He’s an actor. And a good one. A bag of shit is less full of shit than he is. IMO.
It's worth the thought experiment.
Energy. Storage of energy. Peer to peer payments. Etc.
"Musk wrote the software for his first companies, Zip2 & X.com, which literally specialized in peer-to-peer payments.
X.com’s source code was written in C++ and described as monolithic & So was Bitcoin’s.”
Satoshi’s use of ‘bloody hard’ and ‘order of magnitude’ were hallmark Musk expressions. Satoshi wrote with double spaces after a period. So did Musk."
I don’t think we’ll ever know but that won’t stop us talking about it 💯
RoboSats is excellent. The escrow model keeps scammers out effectively, it runs over Tor and Lightning for privacy, and the fees are very low.
The “premium” you pay for privacy is worthwhile: I try to think of the “discounted” price on KYC sats to be the price I’m willing* to sell my data for.
Strike is great.
You buy with no fees. You send to your on-chain address with no fees. Literally none…
And it’s a Bitcoin-only company: inherently more ethical than a crypto exchange
Except more than half the world can’t use it…
Which is a shame, and hopefully with time, that will change as their company (and others like it) are able to expand into additional regions.
But it sounds like the guys in this thread have access to it, which is why I replied favorably toward it as a service.
That’s just wrong.
Yeah. No fkn joke. Got burned by Celsius & FTX for a good $12-15k in BTC. Scumbags!
I'm 99.?% cold storage junky now.
I do my daily DCA on Strike.
Move it off every time I hit 1m says.
Got some sats on Gemini accumulating free every time I use their credit card.
Cold storage maximalist.
Lol I basically do the same, except Cash App for my DCAs.
It’s part of how we learn about Bitcoin and it can be painful. For my first 2 years I kept it on Coinbase and Binance then last year Coincorner - FTX was the trigger to withdraw all of it
I started on coinbase. Hated trading fees. Moved to binance. Got over my shit coin trading days. Now I keep 90% in cold storage
Same . But found out Binance charge higher withdrawal fees! About £3 each time oof
Binance & BinanceUS withdrawal fees suck ass. Maybe the worst of all exchanges. Think it's still .0003 BTC to withdraw.
Strike & CashApp. They fkn rock.
Cash App 100,000 sat minimum for free withdrawal FTW
I get those Universe nudges to.
2% too much
Exchanges are like porto potties for me
I’m there to do my business and get the hell out. Ideally quick enough I don’t need to inhale
Put that corn into cold storage asap
Say it louder for the people in the back!
Amen!
Sexto you know what up eh?
Yes sir been thru some shit here and there and now I kinda know my way around the rodeo lol 😁
I am a maxi today ₿ecause Celsius has all my shit coins. It was a good cost for a lifetime lesson.
Evolution of a maxi
Cost of education
Deleted my Binance a while back now. Not easy. Involved many hoops and a lot of jumping… No regrets.
I was just thinking about Celsius. And that piece of filth which is Mashinsky. I shook his hand and we even toasted to Bitcoin here in LV. Have two good friends who are surgeons, one is a foot surgeon who lost 1.2M and the other one lost his whole Ethereum bag upper 400K.
My story is a lil diff had a nice bag of Matic there for a long time upper 15k, one day I’m at the Starbucks line and I’m reading this article about Celsius borrowing to much USDT. Anyways long story short something felt off and I pulled it all out and staked it straight into the main net. The passive income was nice as it gave me a chance to really deep dive in defi. I begged my friends to do the same but their passive income was wayyyy above mine so they bit the bullet and lost. I also read last week you might be able to get 75% back but who knows when.
I converted all my shitcoins into btc when Luna / UST collapsed
Withdrew everything from Celsius and voyager
Still have a bit of staked ETH I’m waiting to swap
Or buy p2p and never have it on an exchange 😅
I want to get into robosats
And make a trip to Mexico for some non KYC atms
Until then I’m DCA with strike and offloading weekly
In Switzerland ATMs are non KYC and cash only, most other on-ramps require a sms verification from a Swiss number, which is linked to an ID by law even for prepay sadly.
If I didn’t have another kid last week Lugano + ATM’s sound beautiful 🤣
They milk you with fees though. Well, all on-ramp do. I just wish more people started adding BTC to the pay package. Smart companies who accumulate at low prices might even gain from it.
Yes I know. But 5-10 years from now that premium will be insignificant is the way I’d look at it
And Uncle Sam won’t be knocking down my doors for it
Robosats and Bisq are both great options for p2p
Why wouldn’t you do that anyhow ? If you’re so inclined to trade , leverage trade on LM markets , itchy sats, and the other lightning and onchain platforms right from thy node or wallets you control.
