Lack of engagement, interaction. For some, the lack of their less-tech inclined friends, for others they perhaps expect another Fb or IG w all sorts of mud and life posts (babies, graduations, anniversaries, etc). For some they perhaps think it should be another Twitter. Likely the fact that you have to do it yourself here, whereas the others is reflective of society — handholding and “safety”.
*mundane; not “mud and…” we know autoINcorrect kicks in after one presses post.
lack of ability to tune out bitcoin, nostr and development topics (muting those creators isn’t a solution, content categorisation and muted words/hashtag list needed)
minority/niche topics and signal is really hard to find and amplify
For some, freedom and personal responsibility are too difficult to grasp. They need an algorithm or a ceo so they go back to tik tok or instagram
Have seen a fair number of accounts that produced some interesting and obviously well thought out content get dishearteningly low engagement despite keeping at it daily for a few weeks/months. Perhaps as nostr is still relatively small I imagine they gave up after a while and bailed on it. Dare I surmise that seeing some of the "celebrity in group" accounts that get substantial engagement for such erudite wisdom as " I'm putting on my shoes" type content likely added to frustration among some users.
this where i’m at rn.
All my followers are on Twitter. All my longstanding relationships, my reach, where people see my work. But like an immigrant from a tyrannical country, sometimes you need to leave your possessions behind to be free. Not everyone leaves though.
lack of content. which to mean boils down to people not putting in the work because they're not used to our proof of work algorithm here. most people today are used to be spoonfed their social needs. on nostr, we have to be our own algorithm. now, sure, we could use more content too, but i rarely find it hard to find any content to engage with. you just need to follow the right amount of people and the right people.
