I do think in these early days it will be critical to allow people to have free clients to get on the nostr protocol to remove any barrier to entry, allowing the network to grow. There will however be a segment of damus/nostr superfans that are already bought in and want the latest features and are willing to pay to be on the cutting edge.

1. What if you made “TestFlight” a permanent thing…. A monthly fee for a “TestFlight” version where users would get all the latest updates and experimental features first, and then the regular App Store download would be the free version and they would get the latest features after a few months.

2. And/Or… I think you could also crowd fund new features by using zaps to allow users to poll which feature they want implemented first. Zap the feature you want the most and the amount you zap is how bad you want the features incorporated. The largest zaps are the ones that get worked on first.
