Stumbled across this interesting thread reg pensions in the UK. I'm 45, I suspect I'll never see a state pension. If I do, I'd have to work beyond 70. And there are women in the UK campaigning for the right to retire at 60.

So they expect me to work for the next 25+ years to pay them to sit on their arses when I'll likely never be afforded the same degenerate luxury.

So many leaches.

Instead, I'll keep doing what I'm doing.

Yup. I've completely given up on pensions (private or state) same with any inheritance or help from anyone in fact. I'm now sovereign and no-one will every have a hold over me again.

Boomers themselves outside of the public sector are working well beyond retirement already. No retirement is already here. These Boomers say , "oh I need something to keep me active" - my answer is, don't you have hobbies?

As a GenXer, you have no chance of any meaningful pension, even though you have paid in a substantial amount to the Ponzi scheme.

The pension scam isn't likely to end any time soon either, you don't ask a thief to please stop stealing from you, you take hard action against aggressors.

I'm more than 10 years ahead of you and I don't think I'll see my state pension. My Fire Brigade pension has been eroded and moved. Hopefully I will get that in 2 years time? It is a complete ponzi. Opt out

I'm keeping on top of my own retirement plans - I'm semi retired as is, I only work part time for a charity, for a lot less than I could earn elsewhere. They have a decent looking pension scheme, I paid in over the last year and got the report, found out it's all invested in Blackrock and one of these 'green funds'. They actually managed to lose money over the year ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's all a pyramid scheme

Millenial here (35), resigned myself to the fact I will never receive a pension despite ridiculous tax burden.

I'm in that lucky spot where I get hit with a 60% tax rate (and lose access to all child care credits) so if I cancel my pension contributions I lose the employer contribution as well as more than half my contribution to taxes.

Although I don't like paper Bitcoin I have just decided to throw it all in a SIPP and smash buy MSTR, hopefully it wont be seized and it'll be worth something in 20+ years when I start to draw it down.

Despite being a high earner, the mortgage on a 1930s house outside of London is 2/3rds of my take home pay. Add council tax, bills, etc for 2 adults and 2 kids, we live a pretty modest life.

Britain is completely broken, I have no idea how anyone my age on an average salary can afford to function.
