I was strict vegetarian for something like six years in my late teens and early twenties mainly for ethical reasons, nearly vegan but not quite (had some ricotta cheese).
I eventually did more research on paleo diets and on permaculture farms (farms that mix animals with plants and thus mimic nature more closely, like grass-fed cows, or orchards where goats and chickens are brought through to eat bugs and weeds and to fertilize the ground, etc.)
I personally find that my well-being and measurable health metrics are way better on a low-carb meat-oriented diet, which is what I have been eating for over a decade. But I focus heavily on the source of the meat, and try to be a maxi for permacultures and soil-building.
