My town has several of these. Over the two years I've watched a few of them transition into food pantries.
My block has one on the opposite side from my house. The block east has one, the block west has 2 on 2 different sides of the block,
They're everywhere here.
People started putting DVDs in there and I even found a geocache once 🤣
