Well that's the manufacturer recommendation. But it's like a dealership, you really should get that oil changed more frequently.

You’re wasting so many sats thinking of a hardware signing device like oil in a car. It’s more like a keyboard

All analogies eventually break down but I think a pen makes a good analog for a signer. It documents/conveys info and can generate signatures, but when passed from user to user it doesn't retain info about what the last user did.

An HWW is then a safe with a pen and a copy of your signature.

Unless there is a flaw in the security mechanism, it doesn’t have to be replaced
