Damus allows you to only receive notifications from those who you follow. It’s the little icon in the top right corner of your notifs.

I want notifications from people I don't follow. Damus is one of the better clients to block the spam because it's easy to mute the accounts I don't like. Other clients seems to lack this feature for now but devs are still experimenting so we'll just have to see what works best!
Yes, I know what you mean. It’s not a perfect solution. It will get built. Still early days.
