In my opinion, there are two things that will precipitate events, CBDC 💩and nostr 💜
I dunno about cbdc. I have a feeling majority will eat it up and won’t question anything.
It'll be easy in countries with social security. First it'll be anyone getting money from their government. Then contractors, state employees etc. Then they'll start restricting people on welfare's ability to by cigarettes and alcohol and working people will cheer as financial control becomes normalised. Then it'll be expanded out for other reasons, each time for a reason the public will love...
Sadly most people do not know Nostr exists or that their money ain’t shit as the song goes😞

These individuals may not be ready to attain freedom yet.
Sad truth, people don't care. But maybe in places like Africa and south america it will have bigger adoption once it reaches a certain point. In Europe and US there's still a very high standard of living, compared to poor countries, they don't need bitcoin and nostr yet.
I has this conversation with a bitcoiner, he viewed relays as limitation to mass expansion.
tbf, relays has its pros and cons and i think its good to talk about both, as solutions always rise when we open up about challenges
i do think whats lacking on a large scale is the idea of nostr > social media

Zaps add a more solid feel to your engagement and appreciation of a post. A like is ephemeral, a zap is forever because you provided a tangible, measurable value to your appreciation. It's often less than a penny in fiat, but still a value, and as they say, they stack. A million people like your post? That and $1 will buy you a soda. A million 21 sat zaps? Thats $441 US fiat. So many more sodas! (or just hodl if that's your thing).

It is what I thought, and based on my experience in Twitter, I don’t expect any significant amount of likes, let alone zaps… so, I still don’t see the appeal (for me) but now I am aware some people find that opinion offensive.
Getting them isn't the driving force for me to engage here, or to post things, but it's nice to get even the small amounts.
I give out a lot more than I get because I feel like it encourages others to help grow this space.
And #zapathons are fun because it's like throwing holloween candy back and forth.

Removing all the friction from showing your support for something financially is a sleeping giant

Kickstarter, GoFundMe, BuyMeACoffee, Patreon, OnlyFans… all of these, but without any friction. A click.
And then turn it around… you supported the creation of a movie? You own a piece now - you get zapped every time someone buys a ticket
This kind of profit sharing is unimaginable before programmable money
Blockbuster beat mom and pop video stores because they did profit sharing with the studios. They had computer accounting systems that could track rentals and remit to the studios. Mom and pop’s were still on pen and paper.
Then of course they lost out to streaming, which was a different tech innovation, but another they couldn’t see coming
It’s hard to see the impact novel tech will have, but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss it outright because its use isn’t readily apparent to you

Govt propaganda works. People believe the scamdemic lockdowns saved lives, that printing trillions was necessary and inflation is normal. The Govts will ease in CBDCs so people think they’re great. Nostr and Bitcoin are for anti vaxxer types I think they probably believe. Life is too easy for most right now, it’ll be too late before they wake and by then they’ll happily take UBI and rejoice in Big Govt ‘rescue’

I am that. Bought bitcoin years ago and never looked at it once. Don't believe in NFTs, which are based on false scarcity, and nothing else really to buy.
Nostr gives you a purpose, a reason to transact.
