Other sources I have seen suggest this is mostly a bachelor/ette problem. Both married men and women stop adhering to their respective ideologies significantly.
It appears people may be subconsciously attempting to satisfy their instinctial drives with political systems instead of with people.

So ‘liberal’ does not equate to Democrat politically. Liberal in the traditional enlightened sense is also more Republican aligned.
