I forgot where I heard this, but I have heard that it will allow them to make and receive payments within their currencies very quickly, like PIX in Brazil does, etc. But it would be limited to their currencies, and the systems wouldn't work between countries.

But Iagree it would be a hard hit to Nostr if those are implemented. Though, in some ways it'd be a win. In the sense that people are copying elements of Nostr and as a result, when those other apps naturally suck for other reasons like censorship ans ppl abandon ship, they will be more familiar with Nostr.
