As I’m typing this note, I’m still the only trained survivor advocate that I’ve ever seen say these things. I put my career on the line to say all of that long ago. My colleagues hate my positions.

It was Snowden that opened my eyes, thank God. The privacy rights folks do a pretty good job at pushing back but I like to take it a step further by offering solutions that I believe would be effective instead. I understand that this isn’t the job of privacy rights advocates. It’s my job.

Educating parents and children while providing online safety tools is a better pathway forward. It would be a good start but very little effort is put towards prevention.

You can’t make the internet safe for children but you can educate children about how to be safer online. nostr:note1qzxkmnf8hvqwtn33lequepvmsj2p5plp2awgdpq5hcmu66usl5nqhr4heh

Education and personal responsibility 🙌

Delegating your children safety to third parties (governments) it's the worst possible strategy and a guarantee disastrous outcome. But that is what we are taught from day 1.

Freedom (Bitcoin), family, and individual responsability is the way forward! 🫡

Y’know I love that you shared this. I’ve been advocating that parents need to watch what their kids are doing like hawks. I tell parents “would you let your 12 year old walk around downtown Seattle unsupervised? No? Why do you let them go online unsupervised?” The government can do nothing other than overreach with a nanny state mentality.

But we - as parents - can do something. And should. Kids having cell phones or internet should be a privilege… and as parents we can revoke that. The government.. all they can do is shit on the first amendment.

An honest conversation about these issues goes a very long way. 💜

Have I told you how cool you are? Because you’re pretty darn cool! And if you are a mom you are likely a great one.

Awe thank you. I’m not a mother sadly. It wasn’t in the cards for me but it left me open to focus on helping in different ways. 💜

Awesome to hear that. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
