Wait, what? They don't give out wine anymore? And they got rid of incense, too... wtf is this shit...

nah, holy sunday there was incense, it was nice, but yeah, witnessing this made me realise that the church i grew up with was a shallow copy of christianity, because all i associated with those saturday things is icky perfumes and the smell of bible paper, and a total lack of conviviality

the catholic mass and the communion part are very convivial, you feel like you are actually in a society not just a jesus fanclub

That other extreme can be charming too. I like the rustic little churches that are just simple. Like, maybe the two extremes should combine - Sundays with the stained glass and the shiny costumes, and regular quaker style gatherings in a side room. Maybe that exists and I just don't know it...

yeah, i haven't been able to participate in the after-part of it, people tend to stand around outside chatting and i am portuguesally challanged for that

getting my routine in better balance will help me get there, portuguese is not a simple language but it's simpler than german or russian

We have incense on feast days and wine on Maundy Thursday.

the incense they use here seems to be based on rosemary, idk what they use in germany
