One from each place sounds good šŸ˜‚, then you could write a long form note about what you had to go through

šŸ˜‚ I’m leaning towards going to Australia, buying one, touring the country then shipping it back……just need to win the lottery šŸ˜‚

šŸ˜‚, when the supercycle hits we can both go

šŸ˜‚ deal

There will be signs

80 series

79 series with extended chassis build

Troppy with rooftop conversion

Depends on what kind of build you want to do… if you want just something super clean and original/stock and you’re going to keep it stock, Oz is a solid option especially if you’re going to do a trip & work on it yourself if you do modify it… but if you want to do a complete rebuild then hands-down it’s South America over Oz… Colombia or Paraguay are your best bets to find something clean for a reasonable price and then get the majority of the work done (low cost of labor) there before shipping it back home… if you’re serious about exploring options in either Colombia or Paraguay I have contacts in both countries and would be happy to help connect you to some real friends who have businesses in both countries and could help you find something… just about to finish my HDJ80 build and take off for a coupon years of adventure myself

You the man

Hey John, nice to meet you and thanks for getting back to me. We got back from a year long trip a few months ago in our current rig (converted motorhome built by ujoint off road) and I’m always looking for new platforms to build out for the next adventure.

The biggest limiting factor for me is that I’m traveling with five kids. The converted motorhome served us well but it was big, didn’t like having to ship it RORO……so I sold it and am looking for something different. The Land Cruiser troopy, with a small off road trailer is my latest idea…..still early stages though and in the process of planning out the next journey.

Hey mate! The pleasure is all mine!! Sounds epic, where did you travel on the last trip? Can’t beat a motorhome for comfort, and with a fam of 5 I’m sure you guys enjoyed those additional amenities!

I hear you on the RoRo, it’s a roll of the dice every time… container is just a much better way to go… lots of guys looking at buying a 79 series and extending the frame in order to build a custom motorhome on top that will still fit in a container… Troopy builds with the rooftop conversion also a great option and if you can add an offroad trailer that’s a seriously capable family combo šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

I’ll shoot you a couple builds that friends have that are in-line with your above direction so you can see what’s possible and for what price… Keep me on the loop on how your thought process develops and anything I can help with I’m happy to give my 2 sats šŸ’ŖšŸ¼šŸ«” give me a couple days to get back to you with photos of some rigs and some details that way you’ll have a bit more info and some friends to connect with and ask questions to. Moving out of the apt tomorrow so a bit hectic atm but I’ll get back with you shortly on this topic… love talking rigs, it’s too much fun šŸ˜ŽšŸ™šŸ¼ cheers

Last trip covered most of western North America, northern Mexico/Baja, and Nee Zealand.

Next trip will either be Australia or Central/South America.

I think I’m leaning towards two builds. Either a Troopy with pop top, or Sprinter 144 pop top. I need seven seat belts and sleeping for 7.

So inside of both would be used for driving and sleeping, and any extra storage I can squeeze out of them.

Then I’d pull a trailer that would be my kitchen, water carrier for sink/outdoor shower and drinking water, and power pack, and once again sort out as much storage I can muster after those needs are filled.
