I wouldn’t get one for that reason. If it comes to that, and I don’t think it will, there aren’t enough gun owners or the firepower necessary in Canada. However, having a few does give one a little peace of mind when living in a rural area or playing in the backcountry. Maybe do your safety course, go to a range and see if you like it? No harm, other than a bit of your time. The safety course can be done online and the test should be easy to coordinate in person.
