It’s insane how much more complicated verifying applepay subscriptions is compared to our lightning setup. Few understand how good lightning is for commerce.

One day I will get back to working on https://jb55.com/btcmerchant/ to show how easy this is without needing to run any software except your lightning node, but even that could be managed.

Lightning sucks compared to ApplePay and Credit Cards at being a middle man.

Do changes like this (thanks to DMA and the EU) make this any easier for iOS developers and users? Maybe not with apple pay but perhaps this means something potentially positive for your app and Zaps..

They seem to have been complying to these things maliciously, so i doubt it.

Fair but I have to say the best overall user experience I have ever had on a phone has consistently been on iOS. And this is coming from one of the very first Android developers when 1.5 came out. I have an Android 11 device with me and UX still pisses me off. I dread doing Android dev again.

I honestly don't know what you are talking about. Custodial lighting like WoS, Muun etc. is simple enough, but self-hosted lighting is not for the average non-technically inclined. There is so much more room for improvement.

Im talking about running a business on lightning, it’s more than just using a custodial wallet:

Accepting payments for goods (stock, etc)

Payment links (http://lnlink.org)

Accounting

I’ve built a whole suite of tools that damus-the-business uses and all it requires is a lightning node, everything else is client software like we do in nostr. Purple subscriptions are powered by it as well.

Our api server talks over lightning to our node to verify transactions, etc. I just wish I had time to package it in a way that more people can use. Its very cool tech.

If only you could pay your expenses in Bitcoin.

It's not a bitcoin business unless it's bitcoin in, bitcoin out.

Don't worry, because whoever is meant to understand understands!!! Even those from very far away. This unfortunately is not for everyone. I understand, but here, alone, without having “ONE” acquaintance who understands…. So

Apple pay is not a good product. Apple knows this. If they believed it was a good product they wouldn't need to try so hard to prevent competition.
