Question for those of you who own and self-custody Bitcoin, but don't run your own node yet.

What is your biggest obstacle to run your own node?

Cost of quality hardware, (security, back up storage drives)

Budget mostly. I need to buy stuff and I have other priorities right now. Technical knowledge might be an issue, but I’m pretty sure I can overcome that once I get down to business.

Right now it’s the raspberry pi shortage. I have everything but the pi. Might just buy one assembled. Any recommendations on which one to buy?

IMHO it doesn't make much sense to build a node on raspberry pi. They became very expensive (~160 $).

Haven't you considered to user refurbished mini PCs like Dell Optiplex, Lenovo Thinkcentre, HP Elite desk?

Then install Ubuntu or Debian on it, you can use following guides:

I feel like I don't know enough about it from a technical / network security perspective.

I just ordered a node the other day. My obstacle was that I wanted to stack more Bitcoin first.

I started stacking in summer of 2021. I didn’t really go whole hog into stacking until the fall of 2021.
