If they were interested in a state of the economy that expands productive capacity, finds efficiencies, etc. (the means to bring about deflation) they would allow the best tool we know of to do that work: the free market.

So saying "we want deflation and efficiency and production expansion!" and then actually doing central planning and top-down societal control is BS. Actions speak louder than words.
