Lightning is just a form of Bitcoin payment. All you need is to own Bitcoin and use software which enables you to interact with the lightning network.

Mobile wallets like Muun or Wallet of Satoshi can enable this. Or, if you’re more serious and want to take on a project, you can build a lightning node and use on-chain transactions to set up your own channels and make lightning payments that way.

So I have bitcoin but it’s not the lightning ⚡️ so I need to convert it somehow…? Or connect my Satoshi to the Coinbase I already have?

You just need to send some Bitcoin to a wallet which supports lightning. I wouldn’t recommend keeping any Bitcoin with Coinbase, as you don’t actually own it (they do). Personally, I would get a receive address from Muun and send your Bitcoin there until you can figure out a better long term storage plan.

Try sending Bitcoin On-chain to wallet of Satoshi. There is an option at the bottom after you hit receive. Then it will be available to send on Lightning

Lightning is bitcoin. Are you on desktop or mobile? I use two different ones. Alby is a desktop one with a browser plug in Wallet of Satoshi is a mobile wallet... Then just send Sats from your regular wallet to it. I wouldn't keep any Sats in coin base, just use that to onboard your bitcoin from US dollars.

Perfect. I’ll give that a go!

Then you can attach your lightning address to your profile... Your lightning address will be an email looking think like mine is worthybill53@alby.com or worthybill53@walletofshatoshi.com

Thanks - navigating the required connections is not computing in my brain. 🧠

But there’s a reason for everything. Gotta keep the slackers out.
