Indeed! What those people don't get is also that, as I said..
REACTIONS ARE NOT JUST A "👍🏼" (I mean they are on #primal and I always call them out on that).
REACTIONS CAN BE "NEGATIVE".. IS THERE A NEGATIVE #ZAP BUTTON?

Another thing, I'm not a fan of crap social media but there's a reason why discord etc allows message reactions, why signal included reactions, etc. Because it's popular way of replying and communicating.
Keep zaps and its just all transactional and people will just stop using it. However I also think zaps are a GREAT feature and should be made easier to use.
#zaps are one of the biggest innovation #nostr brought to internet, that's out of question. They are already revolutioning behaviours, X monetization came because of that, I am sure, and also sure Rumble will implement something similar to #zap, and that YouTube will follow to not lose content creators.. domino effect.
What we are seeing is the beginning of the collapse of the advertising model.
When TikTok threatened to shut down, 'influencers' were guests on tv news programs talking about how they made a living on social media using contracts with brands, advertising revenue and whatever schemes and tricks they could come up with to have money come in. Lying was on the table, cheating was necessary and encouraged, stealing other people's sponsorship deals was all part of the game. But actual work? Meh, that's so 20th century. I'm in chats on X where it's all the tricks and sneaky ways to get 'impressions' so they can trigger a bigger check from the monetization formula. I find it amusing to watch, but it's like watching an episode of Idiocracy.
Proof of Work means more than just the miners. It needs to be the core mantra of our civilization if it is going to thrive. People do want to work, and they want that work to be meaningful and appreciated. So when I see a post or a comment that shows that someone has done work that I appreciate, that's when the lightning bolt comes out. Even just 21 sats is meaningful today, regardless of how much that might be worth some day in the future.
Nostr and Zaps work on the Appreciation Model. We need to kick the advertising model into the trash can. Sooo fiat.
Advertising model on #nostr is evolving in #zapvertising and accompanying a value for value economy based on zapping notes and content.
Another thing that's evolving here is a pletora of different way to also react to contents and notes that isn't just a "like" but a message in various form as emojis/gifs/images/urls
I've been seeing that being built, and it really makes me nervous. I have hated advertising my entire life. And I don't mean a wavy hand disregard, I mean an active HATRED towards the interruption of whatever I was watching or reading just because someone wants to shove content in my face that I don't want to see. If I'm actively looking for a product or service, advertising in search results is logical and welcome. Show me your stuff when I'm looking for it. But get in my screen with bells and whistles when I'm not looking for it, and that company has very likely lost a potential customer because I won't support that kind of interruption bullshit.
I love Nostr because it has no algorithms, no corporations and no advertising. I hope that doesn't change, at least not in the apps that I choose to use. If an app I use frequently changes to allow ads or corporate takeovers of screen space and my time, that app can burn in the fires of Muspelheim.
Yeah I see your point, and I believe depends all about the optionability you can express while using your client. That's why I adore #Amethyst because I can set almost anything I need to be choose what to see or not.
With zapvertisment the risk could be about being spammed with mini zap of lower amounts, so muting notifications for zap under a certain amount solves that. This can be also a thing built by wallets in future.. so company that wants your attention will have to zap you higher, same for users..
I can certainly see the value of sending a zap to 'compensate' someone for screen space and time taken, but I really question whether doing that to random profiles. Something like that should absolutely be built into a search engine type app that operates on Nostr, which might be a specific feed where we type in what we are looking for and then have the ability to sort by zapped advertising so that when we click on a link to learn more it pays us a bit before we pay them if we choose to buy the product or service from them.
...question whether doing that to random profiles is the best way to catch the attention of existing nostr users who don't want to deal with advertising...
Well.. I think it's kind an inevitable problem as #bitcoin is uncensorable itself, and zaps also as they just are a lightning transaction, so you are exposed to them the moment you publish on your profile you lightning address. Knowing that anyone from anywhere can send you ads as "zap". Like of someone knows your onchain address, how can you avoid him to send you a btc transaction with an Advertisement as note?
No question that anyone can send me a zap, I'm just curious of anyone is thinking about whether they should. If someone sends me a zap, I usually try to track back which post or comment they are responding to. I've gotten many zaps into my wallet that don't seem to be coming from appreciation for something I said or posted, and I have not known what to do with those. I usually end up ignoring them, but now I guess it might mean that they're zapping me at random for some kind of zapad? Ok, thanks, whatever,
Try using different client, I can trace almost any zap on #Amethyst. I check from there, because the wallet I use to receive them Wallet of Satoshi, just says "zap" as note but nothing else.
